- She is unconventional both in appearance and in personality. Her eyes are emotive and emphasized as a core feature of her face. She has a wide emotional range and can portray anger, sadness, and frustration. This is the lead character, and we will follow her story as she moves through gender-normative societal roles.

- Immigrants POC

- Age: 30 - 40 years old

- Healthy and active. Her parents have fought to live the ‘American dream’ and provide a healthy life for their daughter. Despite their attempts, they still fall into the trap of the same internalized roles they grew up with. They are kind and caring with a fading accent. They hope to set up a life they did not have for their daughter

Profile #3:

- Female

- Any Race

- Age: 60 - 70s years old

- Discarded and dejected from the classical beauty norms – she is hardened and shrouded in darkness. She will present herself several times throughout the film as she represents the perverse nature of the gender constructs internalized by women. This actor must have a substantial range and have the capacity to portray the duality of the demon and nurturing mother. She can take control of a room and emotes with mystery through her physicality.

- Age: 40 - 50 Years old

- The therapist is kind and gentle with a validating tone. They can create a secure space for Carmen to express and accept her anger.

- Age: 30 - 50 years old

- Family and friends will only be present for one outdoor scene. A lively and warm community filled with excitement and love.

- She is a well-meaning mentor who has experienced being unheard and attempts to set a firm foundation for herself as an educator.

- Only present for one scene. They are Carmen’s friends and act from a place of popularity with attempts to pressure Carmen to fit in (note that these are NOT bullies and have the dynamic of a typical teen.

- A preppy boy. He has pressure at home to make straight A’s and often raises his hand first. The room tends to bend to his will without his awareness.
